BRAKE CALIPER PAINTING · MELBOURNE
Brake caliper painting:
what to expect.
A small detail can change the whole look of your car. Here’s how to choose your caliper colour and plan a visit to our Thomastown workshop.
What does brake caliper painting change?
Calipers sit behind the spokes of your wheels, so their colour becomes part of the car’s overall appearance. A red or yellow caliper can add contrast to dark wheels; silver or black can create a more understated finish. The right choice depends on your body colour, wheel design and how much of the brake hardware is visible.
Caliper painting is a cosmetic service. It does not increase braking power, change the brake specification or replace brake maintenance. Any existing brake fault should be assessed before refinishing. Our focus is the colour and finish, with working components and braking surfaces protected during the job.
See the colours before you choose
You don’t have to choose a colour from a tiny swatch and imagine the rest. Open See your car, select a prepared vehicle design and compare wheel and caliper colours together. No photo upload is needed for the prepared models. The AI-generated base images let you explore the look from the side, then switch to a wheel detail to see the colour pairing more closely.
Try one contrasting combination and one subtle combination. Red against black wheels gives a different impression from silver against bronze. Use the body colour control to give the preview context, then keep your favourite look as a starting point for the workshop conversation.
The preview is a colour concept. Your exact year, trim, spokes, brakes and paint shade may differ. We confirm the actual colour, finish and any decal request with your quote. Our AI preview guide explains the available designs and custom preview option.
Our paint and preparation
At Supreme Auto Customs, our caliper refinishing uses high temperature resistant 2K paint. We discuss your preferred shade and finish before work begins. Preparation matters as much as colour: the condition of the existing finish affects the work needed for a clean result.
For a standard cosmetic colour change, the calipers remain fitted to the car. The wheels are removed and the surrounding parts are carefully protected. We don’t recommend removing the calipers for a standard colour change because removal and refitting require extra mechanical labour and can substantially increase the cost. If removal is necessary, the extra work and cost are quoted separately before the job begins.
How long does caliper painting take?
Our standard caliper painting service takes approximately 3–5 hours, depending on the caliper condition and chosen finish. Confirm your appointment before travelling, and agree on drop-off and collection times with us. The workshop service time and the coating’s curing instructions are separate details; we explain both for your booking.
Tell us your make, model and year, the colour you want and whether you would like decals. Clear photographs of your calipers help us assess the starting condition and prepare an appropriate quote. There is no single price that accurately describes every vehicle and finish.
Warranty and looking after the finish
Our caliper painting comes with a 2-year warranty, with the details provided in your quote. If you notice an issue with the finish, contact us with photographs so we can assess it. Keep your quote and service details so the workshop can identify the work.
Follow the driving, washing and cleaning instructions supplied for your chosen coating. A surface that feels dry may still be curing, so avoid assuming it is ready for every cleaner or wash method. We confirm any wait before washing and the appropriate care for the finish when you collect the car.
