CALIPER STYLING · BUYING GUIDE
Painted calipers
or caliper covers?
A colour change and an added cover are different ways to change the appearance behind your wheels. Compare the approach before you compare the price.
Painting keeps the shape of your existing caliper
Caliper painting refinishes the visible surface of the brake caliper already fitted to your vehicle. It changes the colour of that component; it does not turn it into a different brake model or add a larger brake assembly. This approach suits a driver who wants the existing caliper shape in a new colour.
At our Thomastown workshop, the standard painting process keeps the calipers fitted to the car and uses high temperature resistant 2K paint. We assess the starting finish, discuss your preferred colour and confirm the scope before booking. A standard colour change does not usually require the additional mechanical labour involved in removing the calipers.
A cover is a separate accessory, with its own fitment requirements
A caliper cover is an added accessory over the existing caliper, so compatibility has to be checked for that product. Manufacturer MGP, for example, lists requirements tied to the vehicle, wheel size and clearance. Those requirements belong to its products; another supplier's cover may have different instructions. See MGP's caliper cover fitment guidance.
Do not assume a cover fits simply because a seller lists your car's name. Ask the cover supplier to confirm your exact year, brake configuration and wheel arrangement against its fitting instructions. This guide compares styling choices; our caliper painting quote does not include supplying or fitting covers.
Compare the visible result through your wheels
Your spokes determine how much of the caliper can be seen. Before choosing a stronger colour, look at your own car from the side and note whether the front and rear calipers are equally visible. A wide, open spoke design can make a small colour accent more noticeable; a busier design can hide much of it.
Our See your car studio helps you compare wheel and caliper colours together on prepared AI-generated vehicle designs. Try a contrasting combination and a subtle one. The studio is a representative colour concept: it does not show cover fitment, alter the real caliper shape or assess your actual brakes.
A styling choice does not replace brake maintenance
The purpose of our painting service is cosmetic. It does not increase braking power or resolve an existing brake fault. If your aim is different braking performance or replacement hardware, keep that discussion separate from a colour quote and seek an appropriate brake assessment.
When you compare options, separate appearance, supplied parts, fitting work and maintenance. A clear description of what you want makes the quotation easier to understand and avoids treating very different jobs as interchangeable.
Ask us about a painted finish
Send your vehicle details, photos of the calipers and preferred colour to Supreme Auto Customs. Our standard caliper painting takes approximately 3–5 hours and includes a 2-year warranty, with details confirmed in the quote. If removal is necessary, the extra mechanical work is quoted separately.
We are at 36 Longview Court, Thomastown VIC 3074, open Monday–Saturday, 10 am–6 pm. Customers bring their cars to the workshop by appointment. Call 0494 157 733 or request a caliper painting quote online.
